Dorian Wind Quintet & Abigail Fischer
December 17, 2018
Dorian Wind Quintet:
Gretchen Pusch, flute
Gerard Reuter, oboe
Benjamin Fingland, clarinet
Adrian Morejon, bassoon
Karl Kramer-Johansen, horn
“One of chamber music’s most sparkling and eloquent ensembles” (TIME Magazine), the Dorian Wind Quintet joins forces with “luminous” mezzo-soprano Abigail Fischer (New York Times) for Lee Hoiby’s zesty, hilarious operatic portrait of Julia Child baking a chocolate cake, Bon Appétit! The Dorian also brings their “extraordinary accuracy and spirit” (New York Times) to both classic and contemporary American music, and Fischer offers Leonard Bernstein’s delicious song cycle of recipes, La Bonne Cuisine. "Ms. Fischer sings with a passionate restraint that has no equal in her generation." (New York Times)
Lee Hoiby — Bon Appétit! (featuring Abigail Fischer as Julia Child)
Leonard Bernstein — La Bonne Cuisine
Samuel Barber — Summer Music
George Perle — Wind Quintet No. 1
Elliott Carter — Woodwind Quintet
